Abstract

This research was motivated by the low of students‟ ability in speaking English language. The formulation of this study was how can the group investigation method improve students‟ speaking skill for the second year students of SMAN 1 Pare?. In order that this research runs well, the writer has arranged some steps, they were: 1) planning, 2) implementation, 3) observation, and 4) reflection. Therefore could be concluded the implementation of group investigation learning strategy increased students‟ ability in speaking English. The success of the implementation of group investigation learning strategy before action, on the first cycle and on the second cycle. Before action, students‟ students‟ ability was categorized “low” with an average percentage 56,7% as this number ranged 55%69%. And their competence increased on the first cycle it was 70,7% and categorized “Fairly able” as this number ranged 70%-79%. Furthermore, their ability also on the second cycle increased it was 90% and categorized “capable”, because some students grades are in the range 80%-100%.
