Department of English Language Education, Postgraduate Program, UIN Syekh Wasil Kediri. Advisor: (I) Dr. Toyyibah, S.S, M.Pd and (II) Dr. Dewi Nur Suci, S.S, M.Pd. Keywords: young English learner, factors contributing success, successful learning Acquiring English as a foreign language since elementary school presents challenges due to age, limited experience, and an unsupportive environment. However, some students overcome these barriers and achieve remarkable success. This study aims to explore how an elementary student successfully learns English as a foreign language. The subject was a fifth-grade student at SD Islam Pojok 2 Kediri who had achieved notable success in school and various competitions. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations at school, and documentation from students, teachers, and parents. Descriptive analysis was employed to portray the learning process. Findings revealed 16 success indicators across five categories. Learner characteristics included self-confidence, risk taking, lack of learning anxiety, age, English program, language competency, technology used & sources, and learning motivation. In the learning process, the student demonstrated an appropriate learning style and problem-solving ability. The learning conditions included supportive classrooms and use of prior knowledge. Outcomes covered academic achievement and formative assessment engagement. Social context factors involved parental support and engagement with external communities like English Massive. In conclusion, success stems from personal traits, learning strategies, and environmental support. Integrative, contextual learning approaches are essential to optimize students' potential in learning foreign languages.
