Abstract
The phenomena of the attention economy and epistemic speed within the current algorithmic culture have triggered a massive spread of misinformation and hoaxes in Indonesia. High social media penetration, unaccompanied by deep ethical literacy, has resulted in a society prone to reactive and impulsive respones to information. This research is motivated by the urgency to formulate a digital literacy foundation based on Quranic values to address this crisis. The purpose of this study is to analyze the jidāl (debate/dialogue) method in the story of Prophet Moses and Prophet Khidr (Q.S. Al-Kahfi: 60-82) as a critical approach, to explain its relevance to the phenomenon of misinformation, and to formulate a strategy for implementing this method as a digital literacy model to build a healthier and more responible information ecosystem. This study is a library research employing a qualitative approach. This research uses Jasser Auda's Tafsir Maqashidi approach to bridge the historical and digital contexts. Relevant validity is established through the Qiyas Aulawi argument to prove that the ethical urgency of Musa-Khidir is even more absolute in the post-truth era. Primary data sources include the text of the Qur'an and authoritative tafsir books (such as al-Rāzi, al-Qurtubi, and Ibn Kathir), while secondary and tertiary data include hadith literature, Islamic epistemology, and journals on digital literacy and information behavior. Data collection techniques were carried out through documentation and literature review, which were then analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method to deconstruct the text's meaning and synthesize an applicable Quranic Digital Literacy Model. The results of the study indicate that: (1) The jidāl method in this story is not merely a debate, but a pedagogical process to shift the paradigm from knowledge ownership to knowledge humility (tawāḍu’ epistemic); (2) There is a precise analogy between Prophet Moses' perceptual failure regarding three events (scuttling the boat, killing the boy, erecting the wall) and the vulnerability of the modern public to three types of disinformation (out-of-context information, manipulation, and clickbait/conspiracy theories); (3) The implementation of this jidāl method yields a "Quranic Digital Literacy Model" consisting of three stages: The Verification Stage based on Tabayyun and Tatsabbut (self-restraint/cognitive pause), The Clarification Stage through Jidāl Hakim (constructive dialogue), and The Transformation Stage leading to Hikmah (wisdom). This model offers an ethical solution to counter the digital impulsive culture by instilling the etiquette of ta'khīr al-ḥukm (suspension of judgment) before verifying the inner context of information.
