Abstract

Exploring the Potential of the Movie Melukis Pantai as an Educational Resource for Implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, Department of English |Language Education, Faculty of Graduate Degree, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Kediri. Advisor: Nur Afifi, M.App.Ling., Ph.D., and Dr. Toyyibah, M.Pd. Keywords: Movie Melukis Pantai, Pancasila Students’ Profile Values, Literacy Activities, Merdeka Curriculum, Educational Resource The Merdeka Curriculum has been implemented by the government. The main points of Implementing the Merdeka Curriculum are Literacy and character education referred to Pancasila Students Profile values. Regarding character education and providing educational resources for implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, Pusat Data dan Teknologi Informasi Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Pusdatin Kemendikbud) in corporate with Busan Foundation for International Cooperation and Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE) released a Movie titled Melukis Pantai. This Movie is aimed to show the essence of the Merdeka Curriculum. Through the Movie, the government expects the stakeholders of education aware of the characters in this curriculum. This study also aimed to reveal the representation of literacy activities in the movie Melukis Pantai and the realization of Pancasila Students’ profile values in the movie. To elicit the purpose efficiently, the researcher uses Multimodal Discourse Analysis (MDA). The Data Collection Method is documentation with the researcher as the main instrument. data collection techniques are used by recording the important parts. It consisted of some steps. They are watching the movie, screen capturing, identifying and classifying the data, comparing and contrasting, establishing categories, drawing conclusion and creating educational resource. The most obvious finding to emerge from this study is that the educational values of the movie Melukis Pantai were realized through Utterances, Actions, and Context. The educational values analyzed from this movie are based on the values of Pancasila students’ Profile (P3). The values of Pancasila Students’ profile are Faith, Fear of the Lord and good manners; Global Diversity; Independence; Gotong Royong; Critical Reasoning; and Creativity. Besides, the literacy activities appeared in many contexts of this movie. The result makes it a potential educational resource for implementing the Merdeka Curriculum. The film can serve as a tool for teachers to promote literacy activities and develop various literacy skills among students
