Abstract

This study was conducted to describe three points: (1) the causes of students who are not motivation to learn, (2) the effort of Mrs. Louanne Johnson to improve student’s motivation to learn, (3) the effect of Mrs. Louanne Johnson effort. The object of the study is Dangerous Minds movie. This film is directed by John. N Smith and released in 1995. This study used descriptive qualitative as research because there is no treatment. The researcher watches film, identifying and classifying to get the data and then analyze the data by identifying, classifying, and displaying. The result of the research show that there are many causes faced by Mrs. Louanne Johnson’s students who are not motivated to learn. Those are class distruptions, family, environment, and school. For example of student who have environment cause is there are some student consume drug, student who has family cause is Raul who spent his time to work because his family is poor and his father always force him to work. So, he often absent in his class because of go to work. Based on the causes, there are also some efforts which have been given by Mrs. Louanne Johnson to improve their motivation to learn. Those are Mrs. Louanne Johnson doesapproach to make students interest in her lesson by teach karate, gives score A to all of students, giving a snack, invites the students to make a tour, playing a game, she does avocation approach, help student’s problem, she uses some learning strategies in the class. The efforts of Mrs. Louanne Johnson can improve student’s motivation in learning. There are also some effects of Mrs. Louanne Johnson efforts. Those are the students become conscious to study, Mrs. Louanne Johnson’s students can graduate from Senior High School, the social condition in student’s family is better, the social life Mrs. Louanne Johnson’s students in environment are better The writer recommends some points of this research. Mrs. Louanne Johnson can solve student’s causes by some effort. It can apply in Indonesian learning.
