Abstract

The students should involve themselves in any activities set by the teacher. Hence, the role of the teacher is very important to teaching-learning in the class. The teacher should motivate, encourage, evaluate the student effectively. Some efforts usually are done by the teacher. The statements of research problems are (1) teachers efforts in facilitating students to be active in studying English, (2) the advantages of the teacher’s efforts toward students’ activeness in studying English. The subjects of the study are the teachers and the students of Language Center (LC) Pare Kediri. This study used descriptive qualitative as research design because there is no treatment. This study used the instruments those were observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The result shows that the effort relates to the using of the method there were 43% teachers answer often use a method to teach English. For the effort relates about the using of media there were 42% teachers answer often use a media in the class. While the effort relates to giving motivation, there were 50% teachers answer always give motivation to the students. Moreover, the effort relates to the question of doing evaluation there were 50% teachers answered always give evaluation at the last material. Meanwhile, there are some advantages of teachers efforts toward students activeness. The result shows that the advantages relate to students performance there were 46% students answered that they always enthusiasm to learn English in the class. For the advantages relate to students motivation there were 45% students answered they often get the high motivation to learn English. While the advantages relate to students selfconfidence there were 37% students answered that they often confident to learn English. Moreover, the advantages relate to students efforts there were 50% students answered that they often look for the other ways to understand English well.
